New builds present a unique challenge to create a home with timelessness, presence and soul long before time itself has had a chance to do so.
Everleigh is the first of The Painted Ladies series that combine classic architecture with contemporary interiors. A modern form of the Edwardian architectural style, Everleigh’s interiors feature elements of the Modern Australian and Modern Hamptons design styles. Natural light floods the open plan living areas through sky windows, and expansive double glazed eco windows and a servery window provide views to the garden and alfresco terrace.
A floating island bench in the kitchen/living area keeps the cooks in the family chat while catching the tennis on TV. Integrated convection and steam ovens, and a Blum Space Tower pantry provide streamlined convenience in an ergonomic layout. A Bora downdraft induction cooktop provides an easy to clean cooking surface without the need for a bulky overhead range hood. A real flame gas fire warms the living area from a stone clad chimney breast.
Throughout the interiors, vintage elements reference the home’s architectural heritage, introducing the forms, lines, shapes and patina that give a house its soul. Generous gutter cornices and skirting boards, porthole windows, smoked oak floors, burnished brass and aged nickel light fittings, bronze cabinetry handles, period mantelpieces, custom lead lighting, encaustic-style tiles and Carrara-inspired stone surfaces combine to create a sense of modern heritage.
The home’s light and airy vibe influenced the colour palette of layered whites, soft taupes and black accents balancing the warmth of the smoked oak floors and vibrant large scale artworks. This neutral foundation allows different pops of colour to define each space - from light blue bedlinen in the main bedroom, to fresh green décor in the kitchen/living room, and chestnut cushions and amber glassware in the loungeroom.
